Chief Judge Abdul Sattar Abdul Hameed is an accomplished legal professional who has dedicated his career to upholding justice and the rule of law in Maldives. He received his education in Islamic Sharia and Law from Al-Azhar University in Egypt, and later obtained a Masters in Islamic Shariah from Villa College.
In 2012, he was appointed as a judge of the newly established Drug Court under the new Drug Act of 2011.
In 2018, he was appointed Chief Judge of the Drug Court, becoming the first person to hold that position.
In addition to his work as a judge, Abdul Sattar Abdul Hameed has contributed to the academic study of law in Maldives. He has translated two books on International Humanitarian Law used for teaching. He has also served as a facilitator in the programs conducted by the Judicial Academy to provide training to judges on the Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Law.
