A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Presentation by NDA
Malé, Maldives - The National Drug Agency (NDA) of Maldives organized an enlightening information session on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for judges and staff of the Drug Court on June 8, 2023. The new approach will be used in implementing court-ordered rehabilitation programs, at the Vilunu Center in Hulhumeedhoo, Addu.
Under the new methodology, clients at Vilunu Center will receive both individual and group therapy sessions, with an emphasis on involving their families in the treatment process. This holistic approach is expected to provide comprehensive support and foster lasting recovery for individuals battling drug addiction.
The Vilunu Center, will host an array of programs tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. These initiatives include a one-month detoxification program, a medical detoxification program lasting between 7 and 21 days, and a thorough 7-day screening and assessment review to ensure accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plans.
Furthermore, the center is currently facilitating a psychosocial support group that encourages individuals to engage with peers facing similar challenges, fostering an environment of understanding and empathy.
During the transitional phases of the treatment programs, clients will also have the opportunity to participate in educational programs designed to equip them with essential skills and knowledge. Additionally, career advice will be provided to aid their successful reintegration into society upon completion of the rehabilitation process.
