Drug Court Celebrates International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking!
Drug Court commemorated the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed annually on 26 June, through a series of awareness and educational activities aimed at promoting public understanding of drug prevention, rehabilitation, and the justice system’s response to drug-related issues.
The quiz tournament was conducted on our official Instagram and Facebook pages.
In addition, the Drug Court hosted an Open Day program for students pursuing studies in Shariah and Law. A total of 15 students participated in the event, which provided them with an opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the operations and functions of the Drug Court.
During the program, Court Legal Officer Uz. Mohamed Nashif and Court Legal Officer Uza. Fathimath Thaufeeq delivered an informative session outlining the Court’s procedures, jurisdiction, and the legal processes involved in handling drug-related cases. The session offered participants a deeper understanding of the Court’s role within the justice system and its contribution to addressing drug-related offences.
Representatives from the National Drug Agency (NDA) also took part in the initiative. Director Maryam Asra and Counselor Maryam Shama Naseer conducted a presentation on the Agency’s mandate, ongoing initiatives, and the rehabilitation services.
The program also featured a special expert talk by Ali Adhyb, who spoke on drug prevention strategies, rehabilitation efforts, and the importance of public awareness in combating substance abuse. His presentation emphasized the collective responsibility of institutions, communities, and individuals in fostering a drug-free society.
Chief Judge Uz. Abdu lSattar Abdul Hameed along with the other Judges also participated in the program.
